One of the first actions of the newly formed Board of Directors, was to commission a full engineering report on the Old Bathurst Post Office building to determine the true extent of the work needed to bring this iconic structure back to life, and to restore it to it's former glory.  Once the true cost was established, three Committees were formed, Corporate, Public and Government under the stewardship of three Board Members.  Work then began on the immense task of raising the necessary funds.  The generosity, goodwill and enthusiastic support for the project has been amazing, and a little overwhelming.  All three Committees have worked extremely hard and have enjoyed a great deal of success from their efforts. 

 

To date, temporary power and light has been restored throughout the building along with powerful heating to two of the floors.  After many years of darkness the beautiful old Clock Tower has been relit, and the clock mechanism has been repaired, with up to date computer systems added to ensure accuracy, with all four clock faces now reflecting the exact time, a boon for the City.

The old wiring and fittings have been stripped out - ready for the refurbishment and decoration that will happen in the coming months and years.
